Educational Visits
Today’s world is very multi ethnic / cultural and religious education forms a major part of the curriculum. Therefore we feel it is very important to make sure that we are all aware of the various aspects of all different religions for us to progress and prosper best in today's society.
At Central Gurdwara (Sikh Temple) Manchester, we like to help by providing educational / school visits to the Gurdwara. This can consist of an individual class group or as a whole year group at a time.
You can visit the Gurdwara by appointment, and we aim to provide the following to help along side the current curriculum.
- A brief introduction into the history of Sikhism and our Gurus.
- An overview of Sikh customs and religious symbols.
- An understanding of the Sikh Beliefs.
- An outline of the major Sikh Festivals.
- We can also additionally show you how a Sikh ties his turban.
- Lastly a question and answer session if required.
After this we would take you on a tour of the Gurdwara and then we would all sit down for Langar (free communal vegetarian meal) and informal chatter.
There is absolutely no charge for the visit, although any voluntary donation towards the temple would be most welcome. All you would need to do is arrange for your transport to and from the Gurdwara.
If you wish to organise a visit, please do not hesitate to contact myself (Pritpal Singh Makan) on 07800 915831.
We look forward to helping you make the best use of the educational resources available in our multi ethnic/cultural world and if you have any questions, please do not hesitate to ask.
Hope to see you soon!
